One of the people most instrumental to turning downtown Delray Beach into a bustling destination is moving on. Marjorie Ferrer, who has been the executive director of Delray’s Downtown Development Authority since 1993, will be replaced with her planned successor, Laurie Simon. During her time, Ferrer helped downtown Delray come alive with lights, events, and the 100ft Christmas Tree. She also marketed Delray Beach as a place for recreation, and organized the festivals that make the area feel vibrant.
